One of my friends on lily (who I'll leave nameless in case she wants anonymity) randomly said to me "Dear heaven. You're that Packy Anderson?"

Now, that kind of statement leaves a LOT open to interpretation. I am, as far as I know, the ONLY Packy Anderson, and I am known in several circles for several different things, not all good. My mind started racing through all the different things she could be referring to. "Wait. Which Packy Anderson?" was my response.

The answer suprised me.

Several years ago, I decided I wanted to be able to sing Christine Lavin's Good Thing He Can't Read My Mind. There were, however, problems beside the obvious need to gender-bend the song. I like the opera. I like skiing. And I love sushi. Clearly, in it's original form, the song would not do.

So I changed it. I thought about stereotypically female endeavors I did not care for. Obviously, since Christine poked fun at the opera, I was free to take a swipe at ballet. If eating sushi was for men, vegetarian cuisine was for women. Throw in soap operas for good measure, and... voila. I had "It's a good thing she can't read my mind".

About a year later, I found myself at a Christine Lavin concert. Afterward, feeling guilty, I approached Christine to ask forgiveness. She asked to hear the song. I sang it. She loved it so much, she asked me to email it to her webmistress, Zoe, so she could put it on her website. I got my 15 minutes of fame.

Or, so I thought. Apparently, Tom Smith is singing a parody of Christine's song, too, and my friend says that it's mine (further research reveals that he's singing his own version, not mine).

So, suddenly, I'm that Packy Anderson.

As a conduit for fame... I'll take it. :)
