Sigh. We got my sister out of the hospital today. She went in because she was depressed. She told all her friends online that she was going in, and she gave them contact information because she wanted them to write to her.

She was upset that her best friend of 6 years didn't write her once while she was in there (my sister had written her 9 letters). When she got back to my parents' house today, she posted a comment in her friend's LJ saying she was mad because she hadn't written back. Her friend deleted the entry, de-friended her, set posting to friends only and then made a semi-cryptic non-specific post saying "Glad you're back. Chill out and get lost."

My sister is devestated. I want to strangle the bitch.

I don't blame you, either.

I personally feel that asking someone how they're doing is a small yet really significant thing to do. I know I fail sometimes when it comes to other people, but I try to remember to check up on those I know who are having it rough.

And I know sometimes when I'm down just knowing someone cares enough to ask means the world to me.

sometimes people suck so bad! :( I can't believe that people still get treated this way by people who care about them. The sad part is that I can believe it - seen it happen way to many times - and have even expericed it myself. You think that once you leave high school nonsense like this would stop. but it just doesnt. Give your sis hugs for me packy.

I feel your pain... actually, I feel your sister's pain. I essentially did the same thing my Sophomore year in college (well, I legally signed myself into hospital, otherwise the state would've done it for me)...

Your sister had courage and trusted her friends to be there for her. She at least let them know what was going on in her life and essentially let them know they weren't the problem. I can't believe that someone could be so cold-hearted and take that and shove it back in her face.

Seriously. It's rude, disgusting, and should NOT be tolerated!!

Congrats to your sister for still coming out on top tho. Give her my regards, I know how hard it is to go through. There's still the view that depression + hospital = bad.... those people who see it that way... well, they suck.

Unfortunately, people can be asshats.
I hope you're doing ok and everything continues to go better for your sister.
